That night Tim, Adam, and I took another walk up to the temple. We went later then we did the night before so the gates were all closed. So instead of walking up the stairs, around the temple, down the stairs, and then repeating it we just ran up and down the stairs. Well I ran the first time up and down and then went to just walking fast. Adam ran up and down a bunch of times though, all while still timing my contractions for me with his watch. He is such a great kid! My contractions had started coming about half way up the hill to the temple from our apartment. When they started they were only about five minutes apart and by the time we were on our way home they were two to three minutes apart. The same thing happened with Arthur though so I wasn't too worried about getting to the hospital immediately.
Here I am waiting to leave for the hospital. Tim needed to go pick up Gesselle, my friend, so she could watch Arthur and Bailee for us since my mom was coming with us to the hospital. Adam also wanted to come. He was so excited about his new little cousin.
Tim and Adam waiting also. Adam is timing a contraction here.
At the hospital just before I went to change into my lovely gown.
All hooked up to the monitors to time my contractions so they could know if I was actually in labor or not.
Tim and Adam checking out the technological stuff. Tim was also explaining to Adam all the different things.
Playing Stratego to pass the time away even though it was after midnight.
I was watching the boys play their game and trying to get some rest before the really painful contractions came. I didn't end up getting that rest though. I went natural but my doctors still require a heplock to be in place just in case of an emergency. My nurse waited as long as possible before coming to put it in though. I had Tim come stand next to me to hold my hand since the IV is definitely not my favorite part of hospitals. The nurse, my mom, and myself all tried to get Tim to sit in a chair but he insisted he was fine. As she was doing her job with getting it all set I started to feel light headed and told her so. Those words were no sooner out of my mouth then I felt Tim's hand leave mine and I heard a big thud. Turns out he decided to watch the nurse put the IV in and passed out from the sight. My nurse immediately left me because I was doing fine at that point to revive Tim. I could only hear what was going on which was probably a good thing because I had no idea until later that he wasn't even breathing. It took at least 15 to 20 seconds to get him to the point where he actually moaned and then another 5 before he was alert enough to say anything. As he fell he hit the table next to my bed and luckily his back took all the force and not his head. For the next hour it was getting Tim into the reclining chair to rest so he could get his color back, someone from the ER coming up to talk to him about how he was feeling and whether or not he should be admitted to have a CT scan done to ensure he didn't have a concussion, and finally receiving a priesthood blessing from Tim after he was a little better. We also had to fill out a form about what happened because of fun liability issues. By the time all of that was done my contractions were coming a lot harder and I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep at all. I eventually asked the nurse if I could get in the Jacuzzi so that is where I headed to next. She didn't want to leave me in there too long though since my labor with Arthur progressed so fast. Still I got to have a good 30 minutes in there which helped take the edge off of the contractions.
By the time I made it back to the room I found Tim and Adam all snuggled up together and fast asleep. Mom was still awake though and so she kept me company for the next couple of hours until things really started to happen. My water still hadn't broken and each contraction brought a lot of pressure with it. I used a birthing ball for awhile and that helped a lot through each contraction but I was so tired that between contractions I was afraid I would doze off and fall from the ball. So even though I knew being back in bed would be hard to endure the labor pains I did it and tried to get as comfortable as possible. That meant sitting as straight up as I could and just breathing deeply through the pains. Mom rubbed my feet for me which helped to relax me a lot and I was actually able to cat nap between each contraction. At about 4:30 a.m. my nurse told me that if my water hadn't broken on it's own by 6 o'clock then she'd call my doctor to come over and break it. She wanted to be able to give him as much sleep as possible and get me to where I was mostly if not completely effaced. I finally had a light in front of me of when this all could be over and Tim was awake and sitting by me. Everything was going great except for the pain with each contraction. At 5:45 my nurse checked me again and decided to go ahead and call the doctor because I was completely effaced except for one tiny little section and almost completely dilated. I'm so glad she called him when she did because it got a lot worse the next 20 minutes until he showed up. As soon as my water was broken I could feel the urge to push so I knew that Camilla's head had finally settled down and she was ready to come. However, the doctor wanted me to wait to push and so I had another three contractions to get through before I was finally able to start pushing. Let me just say that the worse part I have found about going natural, as this happened in both of my labors, is not pushing when you have this tremendous, overwhelming urge to do so. Finally, after what seemed like hours, he told me I could push and I happily did just that. After only two contractions, two pushes, and a matter of a few minutes I had a brand new baby girl!
